The plugs I have been using are the ones which were fitted when I bought it. I just hadn't had time and funds to replace them sooner. Here's the oddity. They were the wrong ones- Bosch Super plus +7, which have a flat sealing face and gasket ring. Consequently, they were actually sealing against the the first step in the plug well, and this means the electrodes had been recessed, instead of being in the combustion chamber. Here's another oddity- the 3.6L engine that died had similar plugs. So, now with new (correct) plugs fitted, I should see several improvements. 85 WR quattro 90 V8 Silver, 91 V8 Black, 93 V8 Lago 93 100e quattro V6.
