Change both (they are a PITA to get at) and the car will run fine again. That is a very common problem with the V8. Search this forum for "OT-Geber" or "Drehzahlgeber" and you'll find dozens of people who have had this issue. part number RPM sensor: 077905381A, TDC sensor: 077 905381. price in Germany: 90,08 € (TTC) for each - they are in fact identical.
