Ich lass es mal unkommentiert auf euch los:
"Burns some oil as these versions tend to do but does not affect driveability or smogging. See my reference above on this. I've come to see it as the nature of the beast. That goes for the famous 4.2 front low pressure return head gasket oil leak also which every one of these seems to have but is not noticeable to most owners unless they are in the know. Audi didn't fix this all through the A8 production run until the 2000 series cars. This engine is the same engine as the 97 through 99 A8 with the exception of the coil packs.
Only noticeable smoke is when the accelerator is stomped on. Does not smoke at idle. I saw no smoke recently when the 2500 rpm high speed smog test was run for several minutes. This is my third V8 Q and they have all burned oil to some extent or the other. I tend to drive 75 on the freeway so that may be a contributing factor.
Slight pull to right that no one has ever found out why because everything seems to be as it should be. "
