hello everyone,
I am davide from belgium and i am new here. I look almost every day here on the forum for information. I am going to buy a audi v8 and i like to ask some questions here at the forum about the car. Its a 3.6 from 1988 and have 395000km, all the lights of the (automatic) gearbox are on, the breaks i gotta change all the discs and brakepads, he must have new tires. the price is 1000euro...but i must work on it. What do you people say about it??? Its my hobby and i dont need it every day, i have the time to restore it. if i know how to post pictures i will show you the car.
I hope to ear soon from you all!!
Thank you very much!

Hi and a warm welcome Davide.
Looks like a bit work needs to be done. Your gearbox ECU is running in fault modus, so first you should read out the error codes.
The front brake discs are pretty expansive. The rear ones are cheaper. Mind the parking brake mechanism at the rear calipers. The levers must not jam in their housings. After releasing the handbrake the levers need to return to their rest position automatically.
Good luck with your new car!
Beste Grüße
Tim

Hi
First you should check the fuse in the fuel-pump-relay... remove it if you found one.

Please read again: "the fuse in the fuel-pump-relay"
You're looking at the wrong place...
In diesem Sinne

from personal experience-
Gearbox indicator fully lit up, as mentioned above, is a limp home mode. A full fluid and filter change quite often resolved many gearbox problems Ive encountered across 4 different cars. But pulling the codes is a must. it's actually pretty simple- i made my own diagnostic cable, based on the info in the service 'manual'. likewise, understanding the state of the engine codes, which you will do at the same time.
My cars are all UK models; On european cars, do you have a facility to blink the codes directly on the dash instruments?
Brakes. The UFO disks and pads will likely set you back a similar amount as buying the car. The standard discs are nearly unique, and no direct fit alternatives exist.
You'll enjoy it, from tinkering to driving

I think the car wont start... or something else gonna wrong... I don't know, I didn't do it ever - why should I ?
What I really mean is: In the fuel-pump-relay are some pins, there fits fuses and some stupid people think, it's wise to plug in a fuse in a place that seems to be so... BUT there SHOULND'T be a fuse -> Only if you want to read out the engine failure codes and transmission failure codes through the transmission-position lamps (I don't know what the name is for that PRND321-thing in the dashboard)!

I had already made a indicator light(attachement) for reading out because that is the first thing I'm going to do with the car when i have it.is it also possible that there is something in the gearbox stuck from standing still for long (2years)? he starts, that is no problem.

He starts? and? don't move? or what? that's quite important, you should note such things FIRST - not just "all lights on"!
Like the trucker that called his boss Trucker: "sorry boss, I've broken the left mirror on your truck"! Boss: "no problem, please get a new one from the store and mount it" Trucker: "well, I wish I could..." Boss: "why?" Trucker: "the truck lie above the mirror"
Do you check the relay? or do you just want to ask until the problem is solved by itself?

Davide, don't worry about that. You didn't mention in any way that the engine doesn't start. You wrote about simultaneously flashing of all gear indicator lights, what's got nothing to do with the fuel pump. So I even was wondering about the advice to check any fuse in the fuel pump section. I think the misunderstanding is not on YOUR side, so YOU don't need to say sorry.
Beste Grüße
Tim

Tim, you should read his first post
There he wrotes:

Not more nor less technical information about it! I thought when he not comment a thing about the transmission function, so it's okay. Should I know, that "he must have new tires" means they a totally flat? come on!
If I sit in a AudiV8 and all his gearbox lights are lighted, so I would first check the fuel-pump-relay, sorry that I made this expirience TWICE that someone put a fuse in there! Jeah, thats the reason why I should sorry... sorry for my expirience I share with you! Maybe it would be better I've wrote "oh [censored], this means the transmission is damaged or the TCU are down!"
