Hi,
I wanted to inquire if anyone has attempted to swap the 4.2 motor from a D2 A8 (4.2) into a D11 V8 (4.2) chassis. Is it a direct swap and is there a write-up available.
I figure it would be a great way to improve the reliability and performance of the V8 Quattro..
Thanks in Advance....

If you take a look through the Gallery, there's a set of pics of one with an S8 engine. So it's been done. The guys email address is there, too

You will need to relocate one of the side mounts.
You are talking about an ABZ engine?

Relocate? That's a drag. It seemed there was enough similarity with the ABH.

What's the engine code? usually they took a AEC into V8 if it has to much oil consumption...

AEC cars are rare in UK. More common over on the continent, I think.
Audi A8 4.2 uses ABZ engine. It appears to have a number of external parts in common with ABH/PT. So dimensions wise, it should be straightforward. I was considering getting an ABZ to explore this route. But if we are talking about making engine mounts already, then, I don't know.
