quattro transmission problems Please Read GUYS!!!!

i have a question, how do you get the codes off the computer for a 1990 quattro v8 a8? also my transmission wont go in drive but works fine in reverse, any ideas? it make a wierd sound like a vacume leak, is there any vacume hoses or electronics that would make this sound?
any help would be great.

To read the codes off of the comp u need to make a little code reader out of some wire a resistor and an led. You can find the directions for it somewere on this site. Also, it sounds like the linkage for the shifter might be a little off, if the car drives in 1, 2, or 3 then its deff the linkage.

This will also show you how to blink the codes for the transmission... It should tell you what it thinks is wrong with itself.
