Normal instrument indications
      03/11/2010 21:56

Would it be possible for someone to list the normal indications for a V8 when running-
Around town/Urban
cruise c80MPH/130KMH
spirited

OIl temp
Coolant temp
Oil pressure (cold)
Oil pressure (normal operating temperature)

thanks

Also
On the Dash/instrument cluster, there are 2 sets of dip switches. What are these meant to be set to?
And what do they represent?

Hi,

for the English Cluster:

Town: Maybe 95°, but that's really depending on your outside temparature and the start/stop distances, 70° Oil, Oil pressure on 2 when idle, 5 when over 2000upm (around), when (very) cold 5 bar in the very beginning when idle.

Cruise (legt's say motorway): 90°C Cooling fluid, 70° Oil, Oil pressure in each case 5 bar

Sprinting (let's say 200 and above): Cooling remains 90, Oil may climb up to 130° (seldom, definetely not in the UK)

Helps? Still keeping this PITA?

Bastian

Yes, she will live. It would have been gutting to scrap it, for the sake of an engine. The rest of the car is in fairly straight condition (but needs paint next year)
I've now bought a donor car that is very badly neglected, and has a lot of broken components at the front from accident damage.
So, it will donate to my car what I need, and then provide spares for others if wanted (see my separate thread here)
before being sent to the scrap yard.
This means 4 V8s off the road permanently in the space of 3 months here.

PITA is a getting it's own back

Engine in and running.
But

I think I've messed up on the wiring somewhere

OIl temp is indicating 170degrees, with the engine cold, and not running
Oil pressure is indicating 5bar +, engine not running
Fault monitor is obviously showing red oil symbol

Not quite sure what I've done wrong.

Small secondary issue

Cat sensor. 2pin black + 1pin, Not connected, and may not bother, for now. Any issues?

Concerning your small issue:

Do you mean the oxygene sensor or the temperature sensor?
If CO2 sensor is disconnected, ECU will take several values for replacing the missing signal and the car will run, but IIRC the missing signal will be given out as fault code when checking the fault memory.
If the temperature sensor is disconnected, this won't bother the car as well, but in case of an overheated CAT, you won't get informed about it by the warning light in the dashboard.
